Positions & Awards

Director, Nigel G Turton, is an active member, and past Chairman of National Society of Master Thatchers and the Dorset Master Thatchers' Association.  Membership is granted only to those who are able to demonstrate continuous commitment to working to the highest standards.

In 2015 Nigel was elected President of The International Thatching Society. He won the 2015 International Best Thatched Roof Competition. Nigel was second placed Heritage Skills Trainer of the Year in 2020.

In his role of Liveryman in the Worshipful Company of Farmers, Nigel supports the promotion of a better understanding of the importance of farming to the economy and encourages the development of agricultural education.

Experience and Ethics

Nigel has over 30 years of experience in thatching with water reed and combed wheat reed in various traditional styles, not only in the UK but also abroad.  He has also gained a wealth of knowledge from working on Listed Buildings under the strict guidelines of Local Authority Heritage & Conservation Departments.

Nigel and his team believe it is vital that this country's heritage is preserved and protected and that sympathetic restoration and renovation is key to achieving this.
